While cholera risk in Cape Verde is generally low, we recommend it for anyone planning extensive island hopping or staying in basic accommodation. The oral vaccine (£45 per dose, two doses needed – £90 total) may provide short-term protection (up to 3 months) against ETEC diarrhoea, which causes about 25% of traveller’s diarrhoea cases.
